Please only add one course or T Level per application, except for A Levels at EKC Canterbury College, where up to 4 A Level courses can be added per application. At your interview, you and the tutors can discuss the best level and courses in order for you to progress.

Course Summary

Gain experience in the plumbing and electriclal fields with practical tasters in our Plumbing and Electrical workshops alongside our main curriculum of Employability.

In the taster sessions, you will meet our Plumbing and Electrical staff and take part in workshop activities to develop basic skills, giving you a clear understanding of the subject before deciding your next steps.

This course is designed for students who currently do not hold English and Maths qualifications and are working at Entry level 3 or above.

Course Details

For the duration of the course, you will work to achieve Functional Skills Maths and English qualifications.

To achieve the Award in Employability, you will cover units such as:

  • Working in a team
  • Digital skills
  • Career planning
  • Communication skills

How will it be delivered and assessed?

The Employability course is assessed through a portfolio of evidence that is built during the academic year.

Entry requirements

This course is your first step into college education, helping you get a job or start a traineeship. As part of this course, you'll get extra help with your English and maths, making you more ready for work and allowing you to move on to a Level 2 course if you choose to. To join this programme, you will need to show that you can reach Level 1 in English and maths by the end of the course. This will be checked through an assessment during your interview.
