Entry Requirements - Admissions into LAE6 are based on candidates successfully meeting our entry requirements of at least five good passes in GCSE subjects (grade 4 or above), including at least a grade 4 in Maths and English, and grade 6 or better in the subjects they wish to study.

Course Summary

Biology is a fascinating subject in which you can learn about life on a range of scales from molecular - for example understanding the intricate chain of chemical reactions that drives photosynthesis, to the planetary - for example understanding the impact of climate change on the distribution of species. Learning biology develops your ability to synthesis large amounts of information, to understanding the relationships between things and to think logically. You will also learn how to plan and conduct complex practical investigations.

Module 2: Cells

Module 3: Organisms exchange substances with their environment

Module 4:Genetics information, variation and relationships between organisms

Module 5: Energy transfers in and between organisms

Module 6: Organisms respond to changes in their internal and external environments

Module 7: Genetics, populations, evolution and ecosystems

Module 8: The control of gene expression


How will it be delivered and assessed?

Paper 1:

Modules 1- 4 (2h 35%)

Paper 2:

Module 5- 8 (2h 35%)

Paper 3:

Modules 1 -8 (2h 30%)

There will also be a practical endorsement.
