Course Summary

The course consists of 4 units, 2 coursework units and 2 exam units.

Unit 1 – Exploring business (Coursework unit) – this unit gives students the opportunity to study a range of different businesses and allows them to investigate how the different businesses operates and draw comparisons between contrasting businesses.

Unit 2 – Developing a rationale for a marketing campaign (exam unit) – this unit provides the students with the opportunity to research marketing campaigns launched by global successful businesses and students will have use this research to help them to come up with a rationale for a marketing campaign for a selected case study business

Unit 3 – Personal & Business Finance – (Exam unit) – this unit gives students an insight into personal finance and students will also examine the business element of finances, learning how to complete many business account documents.

Unit 8 – Recruitment, Selection & Employment – (Coursework Unit) this unit provides students with the opportunity analyse the recruitment and selection process of different businesses. Students then visit Waitrose distribution and participate in different elements of their recruitment & Selection processes.

Studying business studies can lead to a wide range of opportunities for students. Students can study a wide range of university courses in Finance/Accounting, Human Resources and Marketing. Students can also apply for apprenticeships in Sales, marketing, event management and accountancy. The knowledge and experience students will gain studying business studies will be transferrable to the majority of careers.
