BTEC Engineering

• Level 2 Pathway - For students who still need to resit their Mathematics and English Language GCSE's to gain a Grade 4 alongside Level 2 BTECs.
  
• Level 3 Vocational - For students who have gained a grade 4 in their Mathematics and English Language OR English Literature.
• IBCP Programme - For students gaining 5 GCSE's at Grade 4 and above including Mathematics and English Language.
• Sports Academies (Basketball/Football) - For students wishing to pursue Sport professionally alongside their studies. The academy must be taken in addition to one of the other three pathways on offer.

Number of subjects required:

• Level 3 Pathway - Please select three Level 3 courses (BTEC or RSL)
• IBCP Pathway - Please select two IB Diploma courses and two Level 3 Vocational courses (BTEC or RSL)

National Extended Certificate - Equivalent to 1 A Level

Engineering is the designing, testing and building of machines, structures and processes using maths and science. The course provides a broad basis of study for the engineering sector.

Unit 1 - Engineering Principles

Unit 2 - Delivery of Engineering Processes Safely as a Team

Unit 3 - Engineering Product Design and Manufacture

Unit 10 - Computer Aided Design in Engineering

Units 1 & 3 are assessed externally through exams.

Units 2 & 10 are coursework based which are internally assessed and externally moderated.

You must have at least:

4 in GCSE English Language

4 in GCSE Mathematics

Preferred but not essential:

Level 2 qualification in a DT subject.

University Degrees in:

Aerospace engineering, Biomedical engineering, Civil engineering, Mechanical engineering etc.

Employment in: Automotive engineer, Civil engineering, Electrical engineering, Mechanical engineering etc.
