Course Summary

The Engineering course provides an excellent first step into the vast Engineering careers world and is ideally suited to students who have an enthusiasm for Design, Technology, Mathematics and Physics.

Students who choose BTEC Engineering may go into careers such as Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or Industrial Engineering, as well as Product Design and Computer Science.

Course Details

The course consists of four units -

  • Engineering Principles;
  • Delivery of Engineering Processes Safely as a Team;
  • Engineering Product Design and Manufacture – two of which are externally assessed with the latter assessed internally;
  • Computer Aided Design in Engineering, which is also assessed internally. Students will undertake a range of both theory and practical based tasks.

Entry requirements

Grade 6 or higher in Maths and Grade 6 in DT or Grade 5,5 in Science
