Entry Requirements: - Our Sixth Form entry requirements are five GCSEs at Grade 4 and above for the 'A' Level Pathway (in addition to some individual subject entry requirements) and 4 GCSEs at Grade 4 and above for the Vocational (BTEC) Pathway. The course information gives specific details of course content and entry requirements. Please also refer to the Sixth Form Prospectus for the specific entry requirements for the chosen subjects.
Students need to select the equivalent of 3 A Levels or more. (Triple BTEC counts as 3, Double BTEC counts as 2). Subjects are grouped into option blocks, please be aware that not all combinations are possible.
In addition to academic requirements stated above a place will be dependent on the receipt of a satisfactory school reference.

Health and Social Care is a broad term that relates to the integrated services that are available from health and social care providers.
BTEC Level 3 Extended Certificate, Diploma and Extended Diplomas in Health and Social Care provide the opportunity for learners to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal skills and attributes, essential for successful performance in working life. The qualifications are equivalent to one, two and three A levels respectively.
The students study:
- 4 units for the Extended Certificate, 3 of which are mandatory and 2 external.
- 8 units for the Diploma, 6 of which are mandatory and 3 external.
- 13 units for Extended Diploma, 8 of which are mandatory and 4 external.
BTEC Health and Social Care DOUBLE AWARD Level 3 is the equivalent of 2 A levels.
Course Details
Year 1 and 2
Students will study the designated units required over two years.
The mandatory units are:
- Human lifespan development
- Working in Health and Social Care
- Meeting Individual Care and Support Needs
- Principles of Safe practice in Health and Social Care
- Promoting Public Health
- Anatomy and Physiology for Health and Social Care
- Work experience in Health and Social Care
There are a range of optional units that students can choose from.
Activities
Visits to local health service providers, care homes, rehabilitation centres, hospitals and GP surgeries. Mandatory 100 hours work experience in the health and social care sector.
Entry requirements
Four GCSEs at grade 4 or above including Grade 3 or above in English Language.
