This course covers key scientific principles in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. This course aims to inspire and enthuse you to consider a career in the Science sector. It will give you the opportunity to gain a broad understanding and knowledge of, and skills in, the Science sector e.g. practical & investigative skills and knowledge of areas of Biology, Chemistry and Physics. It will also support progression to a more specialised level 3 vocational or academic Science course or an apprenticeship.

Unit 1 – Principles of Science

Unit 2 – Chemistry and our earth

Unit 3 - Energy and our universe

Unit 4 – Biology and our environment

75% Coursework, 25% Exam. Unit 1 will be externally assessed and will consist of a range of short-answer and extended-writing questions. Units 2-3 are assessed through internal assessment.

Learners do not need any other qualifications as pre-requisites to entry.

Learners can progress onto a more specialised level 3 vocational or academic Science course or an apprenticeship. Learners can also progress to a range of BTEC Level 2 qualifications including Beauty therapy science, health and social care, sport and exercise science.
