Course Summary

Students will work on developing their vocal, physical, and interpretive skills for live performance. They will study a variety of practitioner techniques and styles and will analyse the use of these in their work.

In Performing Arts, students work in a mixed Year 12 and 13 class and so the order of units roll over a two-year programme.

Course Details

Across the two years, students will complete all of the units listed below:

Year 12 and Year 13

Unit 1 - Investigating Practitioner’s Work
Unit 2 - Developing Skills and Techniques for Live Performance
Unit 3 - Group Performance Workshop
Unit 19 - Acting Styles

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Students will apply the theories and techniques they have learnt for two scripted performances and one devised performance that must be performed to a live audience. Students will also sit a written examination which will require them to investigate the work of a variety of Performing Arts practitioners and analyse it, in relation to the contextual factors of the practitioner and a given theme.
