BTEC Media

• Level 2 Pathway - For students who still need to resit their Mathematics and English Language GCSE's to gain a Grade 4 alongside Level 2 BTECs.
  
• Level 3 Vocational - For students who have gained a grade 4 in their Mathematics and English Language OR English Literature.
• IBCP Programme - For students gaining 5 GCSE's at Grade 4 and above including Mathematics and English Language.
• Sports Academies (Basketball/Football) - For students wishing to pursue Sport professionally alongside their studies. The academy must be taken in addition to one of the other three pathways on offer.

Number of subjects required:

• Level 3 Pathway - Please select three Level 3 courses (BTEC or RSL)
• IBCP Pathway - Please select two IB Diploma courses and two Level 3 Vocational courses (BTEC or RSL)

National Foundation Diploma - equivalent to 1.5 A Levels

Media is a field of study that brings communication, culture and technology together. With a focus on critical analysis and creative expression, students will learn to understand the impact of media on society.

Unit 1 - Media Representations

Unit 4 - Pre Production Portfolio

Unit 6 - Media Campaigns

Unit 8 - Responding to a Commission

Unit 10 - Film Production - Fiction

Unit 16 - Factual Production

Units 1 & 8 are assessed externally through exams.

The remaining 4 units are internally assessed and externally moderated.

You must have at least:

4 in GCSE English Language

4 in GCSE Mathematics

Preferred but not essential:

Level 2 qualification in Media

University Degrees in:

Film & Broadcast Production, Film & Media Studies, Media & Communication, Media Studies etc.

Employment in: Computer programmer, Database analyst, Project manager, Network manager, Web designer etc.
