Course Summary

The qualification gives a coherent introduction to the study of Photography. Students produce a body of work that develops their photographic skill and enhances their understanding of photographic techniques and processes.

This course has been designed for Post 16 Photography students who want to explore a broad range of photographic processes and techniques, and want to develop the knowledge and skills required in the industry.

It will prepare candidates to progress into further or higher education, to follow courses in a broad range of photographic subjects, and ultimately to pursue a career in the creative industries.

Photography in its most basic form allows us to record moments and document events. When it is developed further it is an artistic form of expression that allows the viewer to connect to the photographer.

This course enables students to enhance their creative, social and cultural understanding, as well as developing their specialist technical knowledge.

Students will learn a wide range of specialist areas and disciplines, from traditional photographic processes to digital photography. Students will gain an understanding of both traditional and contemporary techniques, and will develop an appreciation of the work of other artists, photographers and designers.
