Entry Requirements: - Our Sixth Form entry requirements are five GCSEs at Grade 4 and above for the 'A' Level Pathway (in addition to some individual subject entry requirements) and 4 GCSEs at Grade 4 and above for the Vocational (BTEC) Pathway. The course information gives specific details of course content and entry requirements. Please also refer to the Sixth Form Prospectus for the specific entry requirements for the chosen subjects.
Students need to select the equivalent of 3 A Levels or more. (Triple BTEC counts as 3, Double BTEC counts as 2). Subjects are grouped into option blocks, please be aware that not all combinations are possible.
In addition to academic requirements stated above a place will be dependent on the receipt of a satisfactory school reference.

Course Summary
This course provides an introduction for learners looking to build a career in sport within coaching, leadership and sports development areas. This is a double qualification and is the equivalent of 2 A Levels.
It gives learners the opportunity to gain a nationally recognised Level 3 vocationally specific qualification in sport and leisure. It also provides an opportunity to develop a range of techniques, personal skills and attributes essential for successful performance in working life.

Year 1
- Unit 1 Anatomy and Physiology (Externally assessed exam)
- Unit 2 Fitness Training and Programming for Health, Sport and Well-being (Externally assessed exam)
- Unit 22 Investigating Business in the Sport and Active Leisure Industry (Externally assessed exam)
- Unit 4 Sports Leadership (Internally assessed coursework)
Year 2
- Unit 3 Professional Development in the Sports Industry
- Unit 5 Application to Fitness Testing
- Unit 7 Practical Sports Performance
- Unit 23 Skill Acquisition in Sport
- Unit 6 Sports Psychology
- Unit 27: Principles and Practices for Outdoor and Adventurous Activities
Activities
Learners will have the opportunity to visit local workplaces in the sport and active leisure sector as well as studying a number of practical individual and team sports. Learners will also have the opportunity to gain relevant work experience and gain experience as sports leaders in conjunction with local primary schools.

48% is externally assessed in examination conditions and 52% is internally assessed coursework.
