Entry Requirements: - 5 GCSEs at grade 4 including English Language or Literature, and Maths. There are some further entry requirements for specific courses.

BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Business is equivalent in size to one A Level. Within this course students will cover 4 units of which 3 are mandatory and 2 are external. The Extended Certificate is for learners who are interested in learning about the business sector alongside other fields of study, with a view to progressing to a wide range of higher education courses, not necessarily in business-related subjects.

The Units covered in Business are:

Unit 1 - Exploring Business

Unit 2 - Developing a Marketing Campaign

Unit 3 - Personal and Business Finance

Unit 8 - Recruitment and Selection Process

Business is assessed by a combination of internally and externally assessed units.

Internally assessed units and subject to external standards verification:

• Unit 1 Internally Assessed - Exploring Business
• Unit 8 Internally Assessed - Recruitment and Selection Process

Externally assessed units:

• Unit 2 Externally Assessed - Developing a Marketing Campaign
• Unit 3 Externally Assessed - Personal and Business Finance

Some external assessments include a period of preparation using set information. External assessments are available twice a year.

In order to attend Meopham Sixth Form the minimum entry requirement is 5 level 4 GCSEs, including English Language and Mathematics.

A GCSE/BTEC Level 2 in Business Studies is not required and students will not be at a disadvantage if they do not hold a previous Business qualification.

After completing the Business qualification at Meopham School you will be able to access a variety of undergraduate university courses or apprenticeships that can lead to careers as a business adviser, analyst or development manager, corporate investment banker, data analyst, forensic accountant, project manager or stockbroker.
