Entry Requirements: Our general entry requirements are:-
• A Levels – advanced courses, two year study programme, with an average entry requirement of at least five grade 5+ qualifications, including English and mathematics. Some subjects may have additional entry requirements.
• BTEC Level 3 – advanced courses, two year study programme, with an average entry requirement of at least five grade 4+ qualifications, including English and mathematics. Some subjects may have additional entry requirements.
• T Level - technical course, two year study programme, with an average entry requirement of at least five grade 5+ qualifications, including English and mathematics.
• BTEC Level 2 – One year programme, which could lead on to further studies, with an average entry requirement at least five grade 2 or above, including English and mathematics.

Course Summary
Course aims
Students will develop practical skills and theoretical understanding of the world of business and complete projects investigating topics such as; preparing a marketing campaign, managing an event and business finance. During the course students will develop through their group work, IT and presentation skills. Students who study business will gain an insight into the short, medium and long term running of small to global businesses. Critical thinking of real life examples gives students the skills to understand how businesses operate and compete in various industries.

Course content
Students will study a range of key areas in business such as ‘Exploring Business’ where they will learn about the purposes of different businesses, their structure, the effect of the external environment, and how they need to be dynamic and innovative to survive.
Other units covered are marketing, finance and recruitment in the business world.
By the time students have completed the course they have a strong knowledge of the wide world of business and a practical skill set that will prepare them for the first stage in their business careers.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Assessment
The Extended Certificate qualification is assessed through 58% examination consisting of two external exams (one exam is sat per year). The nonexamined assessment (coursework element) is marked by the teacher and is worth 42% of the final grade.
