Course Summary

If you want to work in Early Years and gain knowledge and understanding of babies and young children from birth to seven years of age. This course will give you an excellent foundation knowledge of the needs of children and the role of the practitioner.

Course Details

This course includes studying a range of topics including:

• Roles and responsibilities of the Early Years Practitioner

• Health and safety of babies and young children in the early years

• Equality, diversity and inclusive practice in Early Years Settings

• Safeguarding, protection and welfare of babies and young children in Early Years Settings

• Craft activities

• Respecting Children

• Play and Learning

• Parental rights

You will complete 200 hours over the year in settings with babies and young children.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

You will be assessed in a variety of ways through direct observations in the workplace and written assignments.

Entry requirements

A range of 3/2 grades at GCSE.

Equipment required

There will be a cost to travel to work placements, plus a DBS check and uniform.

Your next steps...

Upon achievement of this qualification, learners can progress to a T Level qualification when English and Maths is achieved at a grade 4, or you can progress to another Level 2 qualification.
