Course Summary
Students will study our changing awareness of crime, criminological theories, criminal investigations from crime scenes through to courtrooms as well as crime and punishment. Students will have the opportunity to acquire knowledge and a critical understanding of both our legal system and crime.
Course Details
The Level 3 Criminology (WJEC) content is taught in 4 units in preparation for the examinations and coursework:
- Unit 1 – Changing awareness of crime
- Unit 2 – Criminological theories
- Unit 3 – Crime scene to courtroom
- Unit 4 – Crime and Punishment
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Unit 1 and Unit 3 are assessed using a controlled assessment. Both make up 50% of their overall grade.
Unit 2 and Unit 4 are assessed using an external exam. Both make up 50% of their overall grade.
