WJEC Level 3 Applied Diploma in Criminology

An understanding of criminology is relevant to many job roles within the criminal justice sector, social and probation work and sociology and psychology.

The applied Diploma is equivalent to 1 A-Level.

1 Changing Awareness of Crime

2 Criminological Theories

3 Crime Scene to Courtroom

4 Crime and Punishment

Units 1 & 3 are internally assessed, Units 2 & 4 are externally assessed

Entry requirements:

5 x GCSE grades 9-4.

A grade 4 for English Language is required.

Interests: The judicial system, courtroom practice, why crimes are committed.

Personal attributes: Organised, self-motivated, self-disciplined, good team worker, enquiring mind.

Skills: Adaptable & resilient, communication skills, creative, critical thinking, effective researcher.

Employment:

Relevant to these fields of employment; National Probation Service, Courts and Tribunals Service, National Offender Management Service.

University:

Undergraduate or Foundation Degrees in a range of subjects, supporting many other degrees, including:

Criminology, Criminology & Psychology, Law with Criminology, Psychology & Sociology.
