Entry Requirements - For entry into year 12 to begin A Level and/or vocational courses, students must meet the minimum requirements in English and Mathematics (grade 4), however most courses require significantly higher grades in certain other GCSE subjects to access them.

How to Apply -

Students are required to study a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 4 subjects.

This subject is for students who are interested in learning about the business sector alongside other fields of study, with a view of progressing to a wide range of HE courses. It can be studied with other vocational courses and A Levels. CTEC qualifications are built around the national occupational standards that professionals must follow and are recognised as valuable qualifications by industry.

Skills Acquired
In addition to the business skills developed in each unit, students will also develop the practical, interpersonal and thinking skills required to be able to succeed in employment and higher education.

Students Suited To The Course
Students with an enterprising mind, a keen interest in how businesses operate and an interest in the way the economy works should all consider studying CTEC Business.

What Other Subjects It Combines Well With
CTECH Business is a broad subject and is easily combined with other A Levels and Vocational subjects.

The CTEC Level 3 Extended Certificate in Business Studies is equivalent to one A Level. There are five units, three of which are mandatory and two of which are assessed externally.

Year 12
A broad understanding and investigation of the basics of Business in the real world/environment.

• Unit 1: The Business Environment (External assessment - Research brief studied prior to the exam)
• Unit 4: Customers and Communication (Internal assessment)
• Unit 5: Marketing and Market Research (Internal assessment)

Year 13
Builds on the content from Year 12 by learning about working in business and managing people.

• Unit 2: Working in Business (External assessment)
• Unit 8: Introduction to Human Resources (Internal assessment)
  

External assessment - this is an examination set by the examination board
Internal assessment - this is assignment work set and assessed by the school and verified externally

GCSE Grade 4 in English.

CTEC Business could lead to university study. Because CTECH qualification have been developed with employers and professional bodies, students will also gain the skills and confidence to enter the world of employment and/or apprenticeships.
