Course Summary

This vocational course is specifically designed for students aged 16+. It lasts one year and is taken as part of our level 2 pathway for students who have not yet qualified for Level 3 study.

If you are retaking GCSE English language AND GCSE Mathematics, you must choose TWO level 2 courses.

If you are retaking either GCSE English language OR GCSE Mathematics, AND you don't qualify for level 3 study, you may take all three - this will be decided based on your GCSE results and your future goals.

Options include:

  • CTEC Digital Media
  • NCFE Sports Coaching
  • BTEC Work Skills

Course Details

The course consists of three units.

Unit 1: (Mandatory/Core) Digital Media and Emerging Technologies

Unit 2: (Mandatory/Core) Principles of Concept Design and Pre-Production

Either Unit 3 or Unit 6 (To be confirmed). Unit 3 is Digital Media Industry: Products and Audiences. Unit 6 is Moving Image Industry: Products and Audiences.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Units 1 and 2 are assessed via external examination. The third unit is coursework.

Entry requirements

To be accepted onto the level 2 pathway.

Minimum four grade 3s or above including English and mathematics are preferred.

Cambridge Technicals are vocational qualifications at Level 2 for students aged 16+. They’re designed with the workplace and progression to level 3 study (and therefore higher education) in mind and provide a high-quality post-16 qualifcation. Qualifications have a mixture of internal and external assessments.
