Course Summary

LEARNERS WILL STUDY HOW CHILDREN GROW AND DEVELOP FROM BIRTH TO AGE EIGHT, INCLUDING THEIR PHYSICAL, COGNITIVE, SOCIAL, AND EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT.

Course Details

THEY WILL LEARN HOW PLAY SUPPORTS LEARNING, HOW TO KEEP CHILDREN SAFE AND HEALTHY, AND THE IMPORTANCE OF SAFEGUARDING AND LEGISLATION. THE COURSE ALSO DEVELOPS LEARNERS’ RESEARCH AND REFLECTIVE SKILLS, HELPING THEM UNDERSTAND HOW THEORY LINKS TO PRACTICE.

• Unit 1: Children’s Development - externally assessed (Exam)

• Unit 2: Keeping Children Safe - externally assessed (Exam)

• Unit 3: Play and Learning - internal assessed (Coursework)

• Unit 4: Research & Reflective Practice in an Early Childhood Setting - Internal assessed (coursework)

How will it be delivered and assessed?

This qualification is assessed by a combination of internally assessed pieces of coursework and written exams.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English and Science.
