Thank you for your interest in our sixth form. We are no longer accepting applications. If you would like to be considered for a course in September, please take the following steps:
Current Sittingbourne School Students please speak to a member of the Sixth Form Team when you come to pick up your GCSE results on Thursday 20th August.
Students from other schools please bring us a paper copy of your results sheet on Friday 21st August 2026 between 10am and 12pm. Unfortunately we cannot accept a photograph of your results. Please come to the main school reception at Swanstree Avenue, Sittingbourne, Kent ME10 4NL.

Entry Requirements: Our general entry requirements are:-
• A Levels – advanced courses, two year study programme, with an average entry requirement of at least five grade 5+ qualifications, including English and mathematics. Some subjects may have additional entry requirements.
• BTEC Level 3 – advanced courses, two year study programme, with an average entry requirement of at least five grade 4+ qualifications, including English and mathematics. Some subjects may have additional entry requirements.
• T Level - technical course, two year study programme, with an average entry requirement of at least five grade 5+ qualifications, including English and mathematics.
• BTEC Level 2 – One year programme, which could lead on to further studies, with an average entry requirement at least five grade 2 or above, including English and mathematics.

Course aims
This A Level Economics course aims to develop students' comprehensive understanding of core microeconomic and macroeconomic principles, fostering analytical and critical thinking skills through the application of economic frameworks to real world scenarios. Students will enhance their ability to interpret data and engage in quantitative analysis, stay informed about current economic events and policies, and effectively communicate well-reasoned economic arguments. Ultimately, the course seeks to instill an appreciation for the impact of economic decisions on individuals, businesses, and society, preparing students for further study and a wide range of careers.

Course Content
In microeconomics, students explore how individuals and firms make decisions, covering topics such as demand, supply, market structures, market failure and the role of government intervention. Macroeconomics focuses on the economy as a whole, examining key indicators like economic growth, inflation, and unemployment, alongside governmental and monetary policies, international trade, and global economic issues like poverty and inequality. Throughout the course, students apply theoretical models to real-world economic scenarios, drawing on current affairs and developing strong quantitative and analytical skills.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Assessment
The qualification is assessed through three externally examined papers, each worth 100 marks and lasting 2 hours. The total marks for the qualification are 300.
Paper 1: Markets and Business Behaviour (Microeconomics)
Paper 2: The National and Global Economy (Macroeconomics)
Paper 3: Microeconomics and Macroeconomics (Synoptic Paper)
The assessment structure focuses on testing your knowledge, application, analysis, and evaluation skills (KAAE) across four key themes:
Theme 1: Introduction to Markets and Market Failure
Theme 2: The UK Economy—Performance and Policies
Theme 3: Business Behaviour and the Labour Market
Theme 4: A Global Perspective
