Entry Requirements: an overall GCSE points score of at least 50 (including grade 4 or higher in both Mathematics and English Language) is required to enrol. You also need to qualify for each of the subjects (minimum 3) you wish to take - a GCSE grade 6 or higher (7 or higher for Mathematics and Music) is required. See our prospectus for full details.

The Langton is proud of the Elite Sport Programmes that it has developed in recent years. The programmes are run jointly with the Canterbury Institute of Sport based at Canterbury Academy and feature talented athletes from both schools. The emphasis of the programmes is on developing the individual as a sportsman/woman furthering their fledgling career. The quality of coaching is unlike anything found elsewhere in the state sector and rivals that of many private establishments. Among the coaching staff are former professional players and coaches, Level 3 coaches, England coaching staff, and a veteran of four Rugby World Cups. You also gain access to physiotherapy and strength and conditioning sessions, and a range of elite facilities include Polo Farm, Kent Cricket Indoor Nets, and CT1 Barbell.

In terms of practicalities:

you will have two hours of training timetabled within the school day on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday (Wednesdays being reserved for fixtures)

you also study three A levels as well as the elite sport training

all of the academies are open equally to male and female students

it is only possible to join one of the five academies (basketball, cricket, hockey, football, rugby)
