Entry Requirements: Some courses have additional entry requirements. These can be found on the prospectus.

Level 3 - 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or higher including English and Mathematics.

Transition - 5 GCSEs at grade 3 or higher. Either English or Mathematics must be at a grade 4.

Why study this subject?

In Engineering you will improve your knowledge of designs and practical skills for building those designs. There will be studies of successfully leading teams of engineers to achieve a goal and you will gain a good knowledge of the health and safety aspects of working in the engineering sector.

Assessment

Unit 1 External – 2hr written examination 33.3%

Unit 2 Internal 16.6%

Unit 3 Externally marked task set by Pearson and completed under supervised conditions 33.3%

Unit 4 Internal 16.6%

50% controlled assessment

50% examination

A grade 5 or higher in GCSE Mathematics and two grade 4s or higher in GCSE Science subjects.

Engineering is an excellent qualification for careers in engineering, architecture, product/industrial design and any other design related courses.
