Please ensure you add three courses in total to your application. (You are only able to choose one subject from each block). Please remember Sport Academy's are an added extra to your three chosen subjects.

The BTEC qualifications have been developed in the engineering sector to give full-time learners the opportunity to enter employment in the mechanical/electrical engineering sector or to progress to higher qualifications with further study in other Engineering disciplines. The units will give learners the opportunity to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal skills and attributes essential for successful performance in working life

e. Learners gain relevant skills and knowledge from studying a range of content focused on electrical, electronic, design and mechanical disciplines. The main reasons why:

1. Engineers are in high demand and it’s one of the fastest growing sectors

2. Like doctors and lawyers, professionally registered engineers are well respected and well paid

3. Engineers get to be creative, practical and innovative

4. There are exciting opportunities to make a difference in the UK and all over the world

5. It’s one of the few career options that spans every sector, from sport to space

This qualification is aimed at learners preparing for future roles in the engineering sector such as higher level apprenticeships or progression to an engineering degree course. It has been designed as part of a two year programme of study and is normally taken in conjunction with two or more qualifications at level 3. It is aimed at giving learners a wider view of the sector including elements of mechanical, electrical and manufacturing engineering.

These qualifications support progression to job opportunities in the engineering sector at a variety of levels. Jobs available in these areas include:

• Mechatronics technician

These qualifications also support those following an apprenticeship or University degree route. For

• BEng (Hons) in Engineering

• BEng (Hons) in Aerospace Engineering

• BSc (Hons) in Computer Science

• BSc (Hons) in Mathematics.

Extended Certificate in Engineering (Equivalent to 1 A Levels - consists of 4 units)
