Course Summary

This course involves the study of linguistics and English literature.

Students will learn how to analyse a range of English language texts: spoken language texts, non-fiction texts, plays, poetry and prose. Students will also learn how to produce their own creative writing from a stimulus and write an evaluative commentary about the process.

This course encourages you to develop your literary and linguistic skills to become independent, confident and reflective readers and writers.

This course aims to enable you to:

• use integrated linguistic and literary approaches in your reading and interpretation of texts

• engage creatively and independently with a wide range of spoken, written and multimodal texts, exploring the relationships between texts

• undertake independent and sustained studies to develop your skills

Course Details

How will it be delivered and assessed?

This two-year A Level course is assessed over two written exams and one independent project.

Entry requirements

5 GCSE or equivalent grade 4 or above, including a grade 5 in English Language and English Literature.
