Entry Requirements: - Admission to Towers Sixth Form to study A levels or BTEC equivalent will be awarded on the basis of GCSE performance. Each subject has its own entry requirements.

If you obtained a grade three in English Language for your GCSEs you must continue to study this when in Sixth Form. A selection of students will sit the November exam but the majority will sit the June exam.

Two exams in November or June.

Grade 3 in English Language.

English is at the core of our comprehension and communication with one another. It enables us to support, challenge or even create new ideas and perspectives and acts as a bridge across time, culture and class - connecting us all to the wider human experience.

English Language equips students with a huge range of imperative workplace skills:

- Clarity and concision of written and spoken communication

- The ability to confidently modify and structure key forms of writing such as letters, speeches etc.

- The ability to decode and comprehend unfamiliar texts and vocabulary

- An awareness of language manipulation and persuasion

English Language is a key requirement for a huge range of career pathways who may not consider you without a passing grade in English Language. Indeed, many employers will use your English Language grade to gauge your aptitude in written and spoken communication before they ever meet you. It is also considered a gateway qualification for both Higher and Further Education.
