Entry Requirements - Generally, in order to study Level 3 courses you must have achieved a minimum of five GCSE passes at grades 9 – 4, including English and maths at a grade 4 or above, or a Level 2 Pass in a relevant vocational qualification. Some A Level courses require you to have achieved specific grades in either that subject, English or maths.
For Level 2 courses you will need to achieve 3 GCSEs at grade 3 or above. Both English and maths must be at grade 2 or above.

Course Summary
Environmental Science is an interdisciplinary subject that draws content together from Biology, Geography, Chemistry,and Physics in order to fully appreciate and understand environmental issues and the impacts of humans on the environment around us as well as on the wider world. Students studying our Environmental Science course will complete a range of experiments and investigations that will be included throughout their topics, allowing them the opportunity to engage with a variety of environmental contexts.
Course Details
We follow the AQA A-Level Environmental Science specification which will include the following topics across the two year course:
The living environment
The physical environment
Energy resources
Pollution
Biological resources
Sustainability
Research methods.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
The course will be assessed through two exams at the end of the second year. Each of these exams will be 3 hours in length and make up 50% of the overall mark. Paper 1 will include the following topics: the physical environment, energy resources, pollution and research methods. Paper 2 will include the following topics: the living environment, biological resources, sustainability and research methods.
Entry requirements
At least 5 GCSE grades 9-4 including GCSE Biology Grade 6 or above (or GCSE Combined Science Grade 6-5 or above) & Maths Grade 6 (GCSE Geography at Grade 5 or above if studied)

This course offers a wide range of exciting potential paths to follow upon its completion. Environmental science will focus on making links between many of the different sciences and geography which allows students to progress into many different fields both within and outside of science. Potential future opportunities could include employment in the biological sciences, ecological and environmental sectors, management of natural resources and sustainability, geological and geographical sectors and even wildlife management and conservation. Alongside this, the analytical and investigative skills practised on the course will be desirable in a majority of industries as transferable skills.
