Course Summary

Our ‘Explore’ courses enable students to explore the senses and interaction through a range of different ways. The multi-sensory curriculum is designed to develop communication, awareness and engagement at an individual pace. Students take part in meaningful, practical experiences that encourage curiosity and interactions across a range of new and familiar settings. Learning is tailored to each individual, with personalised targets reviewed regularly to support progression.

Course Details

On our ‘Explore’ courses, students learn from a multi-sensory curriculum, focusing on the senses and interaction. Our Inclusive learning department has specialist facilities, including sensory and Intensive Interaction room, where skills are developed. These skills include: • Sensology • Tacpac • Intensive interaction • Sensory story massage • Sensory Modulation • Gardening • Arts and Crafts Once a term we set new individualised targets to monitor and review students’ progress in these areas. Students access the local community as a resource to develop social skills, and they also get to learn within areas of the College such as Sport and Visual Art. Additionally, we work in partnership with social workers and health professionals.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

The course is personalised to each student using a multi-sensory impairment baseline assessment. Students will create a portfolio of evidence to support their skill building throughout the course.
