Course Summary

Gain the key practical skills needed to be enter the expanding construction industry. You will learn how to construct different brickwork models to industry standard as well as core health and safety knowledge. You'll also learn about the principles of building, information and quantities, as well as improving your communication skills. You could be learning how to construct block, brick and cavity walling as well as basic manory structures. You'll also be taught how to maintain the different tools involved. We'll help you to improve your maths skills too as they're vital to being a bricklayer! You will create a portfolio of work which will be assessed against set criteria and you will also sit a theory exam. Students successfully completing this course can either progress onto Level 2 Bricklaying or gain employment in the construction sector, including an apprenticeship for those who demonstrate a real passion, skill and commitment for the trade. This full-time course also includes a tutorial progamme which aims to help you to become successful independent learners, supports your well-being, provides careers guidance and advice as well as helps to further develop your knoweldge and skills to become active citzens who contribute positively to society.

Entry requirements

A minimum of four GCSEs at grade 2/F or above, including English or maths.

Your next steps...

Successful completion of the programme will enable you to progress on to a Level 2 in Bricklaying or an apprenticeship. Alternatively you may wish to go straight into employment in the construction industry.
