Entry Requirements: Minimum entry requirements are 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above, which MUST include English Language and Mathematics, plus any additional individual subject requirements.

Course Summary

This qualification offers students a unique opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge by producing an extended piece of work either in an area they are studying, or in which they have a particular interest.

Course Details

The extended project requires a high degree of planning, preparation, research and autonomous working as students decide the title and the format of their project. Time is spent planning, researching, organising and writing with regular support from the student supervisor. For dissertation-based projects, students submit a written report of up to 5000 words for assessment. Artefact and performance-based projects require a slightly shorter written report, which is submitted alongside the project outcome.

The Extended Project qualification is equivalent to half an A Level and is graded in the same way. Universities are very keen to see EPQ in students’ applications to show they have
the skills of project management, independence and research aptitude.

Entry requirements

Applicants to this programme are expected to have at least to meeting the Hillview entry criteria plus have a Grade 5 or above in GCSE English Language.
