Course Summary
The extended project qualification was designed by universities to address a shortfall in higher level study skills displayed by new undergraduates. It can be based on any topic, although it needs to be agreed by the school to ensure it is suitably challenging. The EPQ is worth 50% of an A-Level qualification with grades A*-E available.
Course Details
You can base the project on an area of your own interest, the EPQ gives students a chance to flourish in a chosen field. A teacher will coach you but the 5,000-word essay will be researched and written independently. This qualification is worth UCAS points and can be seen as a useful extension to A-Levels.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Entry requirements
The EPQ is available to any student studying level 3 courses in the Sixth Form.
Your next steps...
The EPQ gives a taste of undergraduate and higher study. It displays the ability to work for long periods of time and produce work of high quality and great depth. As well as the UCAS points it provides, the EPQ gives students the skills they need to access degree level study.
