Course Summary
Studying a language at A Level can open so many doors. No matter what industry you want to work in or whether or not you're interested in studying abroad as part of a degree course, languages can take you further. Studying a language can help you develop skills that can be used in almost any career in a global jobs market. You will learn about the culture of French speaking countries, which will allow you to develop an understanding of your own culture too, whilst broadening your horizons. There will be opportunities to study abroad and to work with professionals who use their language skills on a day to day basis.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
The A Level French course is assessed at the end of year 2, with exams in Speaking, Listening, Reading and writing. There are elements of Translation from English to French in the Writing paper in addition to translation from French to English in the reading exam.
For the speaking element, students are able to select an area of interest that they wish to expand on, allowing them a real opportunity to deepen their knowledge of a subject that is important to them.
