Course Summary

This course focuses on developing and exploring ideas whilst using graphics materials and techniques to refine ideas in the form of a large project with a final piece/s being created in exam conditions. An independent attitude to study is essential and the ability to think creatively and see a project through from initial ideas to final realisation. You could take this course to complement other Advanced Level courses, such as Fine Art, Photography, Textiles, Ceramics or Product Design,

Course Details

Unit 1 Personal Investigation (60%)

Unit 2 Externally Set Assignment (40%)

How will it be delivered and assessed?

The creation of a personal investigation (1000 to 3000 words), which will allow for an in depth study into the contextualisation of your project. The final exam project consists of preparation work and a final piece/s created in 15 hours under exam conditions. The final exam project consists of preparation work and a final piece(s) created in 10 hours under exam conditions.

Entry requirements

5 GCSE grades at 4 and above including a 5 in an Art subject. If you are opting for a different specialism to your GCSE a portfolio and meeting will be required.

It could lead onto Higher Education courses. With further training, you could go into employment related to art and design such as a graphic designer, illustrator, advertising or animator.
