Hair & Beauty Skills Diploma Level 1

This qualification will give you the opportunity to perform your own basic Hair and Beauty services whilst assisting others in the salon.

The course will include:

• An introduction to the Hair and Beauty sector
• How to present a professional image
• How to colour hair using temporary colour
• Plaiting and twisting
• Shampoo and conditioning the hair

Your knowledge and understanding in these units will be collected in a portfolio of evidence. Guidance for this will come from your assessor. Your assessor may also ask questions to confirm your knowledge and understanding. Your assessor will also observe your practical performance in one assessment.

Your grade will be determined by achievement of assessment criteria and achievement of additional performance standards.

A range of GCSEs at 2/1 and a genuine interest in the Hair and Beauty industry.

This qualification will prepare you for either supervised employment in the Hair and Beauty industry, working as an apprentice or further study at Level 2. You may choose to develop your skills in both industries or decide to specialise in just one job; Hairdressing, Barbering or Beauty Therapy.
