Course Summary

This is a two year course which will result in a single A Level. This can be taken in a combination with other level 3 courses (including A level and vocational).

If taken, students will need to choose two other level 3 qualifications and will be requested to do our mandatory enrichment programme. This programme covers a range of different employment skills, other qualifications and experiences that students can use for their post 18 destinations.

Course Details

With the demographics in the UK changing rapidly and the population living longer, the health and social care sectors will experience huge growth over the next few years. For those wishing to work in these sectors, this qualification provides a solid foundation of knowledge, practical skills and experience.

Units of study compromise Anatomy and physiology, Equality, diversity and rights in health and social care and Health, safety and security in health and social care

Assessment of the course will be through a mixture of internal and external assessments.


Unit 1- Principles of working in health, social care and childcare

Unit 2 - Health & Safety Practice

Unit 3 - Working in a person-centred way

Unit 4 - Safeguarding

How will it be delivered and assessed?

50% coursework (internally assessed)

50% examination (externally assessed)

Entry requirements

Grade 4 in GCSE Science & English.
