Course Summary

This course has been developed in the hospitality industry to give you the opportunity to enter employment in the hospitality industry or continue to higher education. These qualifications also give you the opportunity to develop a range of skills, techniques, personal skills, and attributes essential for successful performance in working life.

The course is a practical, work-related course which is equivalent to one AS/A Level and is a one or two-year course.

Course Details

You will gain an understanding of the industry in terms of the products, services, and facilities that are on offer in a wide range of hospitality How will I be assessed? businesses. You will have the opportunity to take part in events for internal and external customers, showing different levels of customer service skills.

You will be expected to attend a placement within a hospitality business to gain experience in the industry. Having a part time job in the industry is an advantage but not a requirement of the course.

You will go on trips to visit different hospitality businesses in the area to give you the opportunity to meet professionals and see how businesses meet the needs of the local community and visitors to the Southeast.

You will have the chance to take part in events and work as a team, as well as work with local employers.you will continue to expand your knowledge and understanding of the industry using the first year’s knowledge. How will it be delivered and assessed?

There are currently no exams for this qualification. You will be assessed on assignments/exams marked to a pass, merit, or distinction.

Entry requirements

At least four to five GCSEs graded 9-4, including English or Maths at grade 4 or above.

Equipment required

There may be small costs for travel to placement, in addition to some trips.

Your next steps...

You could go into employment within the hospitality industry or go to university to study event management or other hospitality-based courses. You could also progress onto a range of management training providers within the UK or even work abroad.
