Entry Requirements - Admissions into LAE6 are based on candidates successfully meeting our entry requirements of at least five good passes in GCSE subjects (grade 4 or above), including at least a grade 4 in Maths and English, and grade 6 or better in the subjects they wish to study.

Course Summary

Biology is a comprehensive subject that explores the complexity of life from molecular processes to ecosystems. It develops critical thinking and analytical skills through theoretical study and practical investigations. The course prepares students for higher education in biological sciences and related fields.

Successful students will be interested in Biology, logical reasoning and problem solving. Students must have an excellent memory and an eye for detail. Biology is a challenging subject, so students will need to be resilient, persistent and very hard-working.


How will it be delivered and assessed?

Paper 1: Multiple choice questions (SL: 45 mins; HL: 1 hour)

Paper 2: Data-based questions, short answer, and extended response questions ( 2 hours 15 mins)

Paper 3: Questions on core, AHL material, with options (SL: 1 hour; HL: 1 hour 15 mins)

Internal Assessment:

Individual investigation project contributing to the overall grade.

Admissions into EA6 are based on candidates successfully meeting our entry requirements of at least 5 good passes in GCSE subjects (grade 4 or above).
