Course Summary

Student profile

As an IB Film student, you are an inquisitive and creative individual with a profound appreciation for the art of filmmaking. You possess a keen eye for detail and a natural curiosity about the world around you, which fuels your desire to explore narratives and emotions through the lens of a camera.

IB Film students are critical thinkers, able to deconstruct the layers of meaning in films and appreciate the cultural, historical, and social contexts that shape cinematic storytelling. You have a passion for dissecting the visual elements of film, including cinematography, mise en scène, and editing, to uncover the nuanced messages within each frame.

In the IB Film program, you’ll work independently and collaboratively, honing your skills in film production and analysis. You’ll build a portfolio of your work, explore a diverse range of films from different cultures and eras, and develop a critical awareness of the impact of media on our world.
