Entry Requirements - Admissions into LAE6 are based on candidates successfully meeting our entry requirements of at least five good passes in GCSE subjects (grade 4 or above), including at least a grade 4 in Maths and English, and grade 6 or better in the subjects they wish to study.

Global politics engages with up to date current affairs and explores the impact political decision making has on the way we live The course encourages engagement with a wide range of media and teaches you how to read behind the news headlines.

Human Rights:

Theories of human rights

Human rights in practice

Case studies on human rights issues

Development:

Definitions and theories of development

Economic growth vs. sustainable development

Case studies on development issues

Peace and Conflict:

Causes and types of conflict

Conflict resolution and peace-building strategies

Case studies on peace and conflict


How will it be delivered and assessed?

Paper 1 - 20%

Source based paper exploring key topics in Global Politics and key messages from the sources

Paper 2 - 30%

Extended response questions, exploring key topics from the Global Politics course.

Paper 3: 30%

Stimulus based paper where you respond to key questions based on case studies you have chosen during your studies.

Internal Assessment - Engagement Project - 20%

Research, take part in, and reflect on, a political issue of interest to you and produce a written report on your work

Ideal for students who are passionate about understanding global issues, enjoy debating and discussing political ideas, and are keen to engage with diverse perspectives. Students should have an interest in staying up to date with current events and the media


Entry requirements

Admissions into EA6 are based on candidates successfully meeting our entry requirements of at least 5 good passes in GCSE subjects (grade 4 or above). This includes achieving at least a grade 4 in Maths and English. If there are any specific grade entry requirements for this subject, they will be listed below.
