Entry Requirements - Admissions into LAE6 are based on candidates successfully meeting our entry requirements of at least five good passes in GCSE subjects (grade 4 or above), including at least a grade 4 in Maths and English, and grade 6 or better in the subjects they wish to study.

Course Summary
IB Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches is designed for students who enjoy developing their mathematics to become fluent in the construction of mathematical arguments and develop strong skills in mathematical thinking. This course is ideal for those interested in pursuing mathematics, engineering, physical sciences, or economics at university level.
Course Details
Number and Algebra: Sequences and series, exponents and logarithms, binomial theorem.
Functions: Understanding the concept of a function, transformations, inverse functions.
Geometry and Trigonometry: Vectors, trigonometric identities, non-right angled triangles.
Statistics and Probability: Data analysis, probability distributions, statistical inference.
Calculus: Limits, differentiation, integration and its applications.
Mathematical Exploration: An individual exploration of a topic of personal interest.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Internal Assessment (20%):
A mathematical exploration that allows students to investigate an area of interest.
External Assessment (80%):
Paper 1 (HL/SL): No calculator allowed; focuses on core topics (2 hours for HL; 1.5 hours for SL).
Paper 2 (HL/SL): Calculator allowed; covers core topics with more complex questions (2 hours for HL; 1.5 hours for SL).
Paper 3 (HL only): Focuses on problem-solving and investigation (1 hour).
Entry requirements
Admissions into EA6 are based on candidates successfully meeting our entry requirements of at least 5 good passes in GCSE subjects (grade 4 or above). This includes achieving at least a grade 4 in Maths and English. If there are any specific grade entry requirements for this subject, they will be listed below.
Mathematics: 7 in mathematics
Successful students will have a strong interest in mathematics and a desire to understand the world through mathematical concepts. They should be independent learners with good analytical skills and an ability to think logically.
