Course Summary
A Level Fine Art is your gateway to bold self-expression and creative discovery. This is a practical, hands-on course where you learn by making – developing imaginative, personal work that reflects your ideas, experiences and passions.
You’ll dive into a wide variety of media, techniques and processes, from traditional to experimental. Drawing is at the heart of everything, helping you refine your thinking and bring your concepts to life.
Fine Art is all about exploring themes that matter to you. Whether you're responding to a personal issue, a global topic or an abstract idea, you’ll learn to communicate visually with confidence and originality. Areas of study include Drawing & Painting, Sculpture, Installation Art and Mixed Media.
You’ll be encouraged to take creative risks, think independently and develop a portfolio that showcases your unique artistic voice.
If you’re ready to push boundaries and make art that speaks, this course will give you the skills and freedom to do just that.
Course Details
Arts subjects are known to build confidence and self=esteem, and promotes enjoyment and engagement for all students. Arts subjects make students look at things anew – even mundane ordinary aspects of the world.
You will be training into a industry that is flourishing because, unlike many industries, the creative industries have continued to grow. More people work in the creative industries than the finance industry!
Even if you are not considering a future in the creative industries, art subjects are a desirable A Level to gain. Outstanding marks, in any subject, indicate skill; intellectual rigour; strong work ethic and a commitment to fulfilling one’s potential. How will it be delivered and assessed?
There are 2 Components in A Level Fine Art
For Component 1 you will develop work for a personal investigation into an idea, issue, concept or theme supported by written material. This will count for 60% of your total A-level marks.
In Component 2 you will produce personal work in response to one of several exciting starting points which will count for 40% of your total A-level marks..
Entry requirements
Entry Requirements: Grade 5 in GCSE Art and Design course such as Fine Art, Photography, Art and Design, Graphic Communication or equivalent

The creative industries have a vast range of exciting career options and choices. These can include working in Film and TV, Journalism, or Marketing for example, as well as many other possible creative Art & Design jobs and careers.
