Course Summary
This course is designed for learners who want to work in the horticultural industry, and want to develop practical skills for employment in horticulture. Learners will gain the opportunity to learn, develop, and practise real-world horticultural skills needed for employment in gardening, landscaping, or plant production.
Course Details
The focus is on hands-on skills such as Plant propagation and care, Garden design and maintenance, Use of horticultural machinery and safe work practices. You will have the opportunity to study in our dedicated Horticulture classroom and outdoor area. In units such as ‘Design a show garden’ and ‘Prune free standing fruit trees’, students will have the opportunity to work with experts in that field to develop their skills.
Entry requirements
Students will need GCSE's 3's in Maths and English - this is a one year level 2 pathway (alongside Maths/English resits)
Your next steps...
Successful learners can progress to a Level 3 course in Horticulture or another land-based course. They will also have the skills to seek employment within the horticultural industry or land-based industry.
