Please only add one course or T Level per application, except for A Levels at EKC Canterbury College, where up to 4 A Level courses can be added per application. At your interview, you and the tutors can discuss the best level and courses in order for you to progress.

This course is designed for creatives who want to step behind the camera and shape stories for film, television and digital platforms. You’ll experience the full production process - from planning and shooting to editing and visual effects - in our brand-new, fully equipped Film Studio, featuring a Blackmagic Pyxis 6K cinema camera, a fleet of Panasonic Lumix cameras, and an extensive range of specialist lenses and lights to support every style of filmmaking or camera-based activity. Whether you're aiming to improve your cameras skills, go to film school, start a freelance business or simply want to build a strong creative portfolio, this course gives you the practical skills and confidence to bring your ideas to life.

Across the year, you’ll explore a range of filmmaking and media production skills, including:

• Cinematography and Camera Operation - Learn to shoot confidently using mirrorless cameras
• Photography and Visual Storytelling - Understand composition, lighting, framing and narrative through imagery.
• Lighting - Work with studio lights, location lighting and creative setups for mood and tone.
• Editing and Post-Production - Develop skills in Adobe Premiere Pro DaVinci and After Effects.
• Sound Recording and Design - Capture clean location or studio audio and create soundscapes that elevate your work.
• Directing and Production Roles - Experience working as part of a film crew with clear responsibilities and workflows.
• Visual Effects - Explore compositing, greenscreen and digital effects.
• Practical Effects and Set Design - Explore hands-on filmmaking techniques including prop creation, practical effects makeup, miniature work, lighting setups and set dressing. Learn how environments, physical effects and production design can enhance storytelling, atmosphere and visual realism both in the studio and on location.
• Broadcast Media Skills - Develop skills for content creation, interviews, live-event coverage and digital platforms.

Your projects will include short films, creative experiments, music videos, documentary work, promotional content, film challenges and studio-led productions.

All assessment is completed through coursework. You’ll complete a series of creative projects across the year, developing your skills while meeting UAL qualification criteria. There are no written exams - instead you’ll produce practical outcomes, research, experiments, reflections and a final major project.

To study at Level 3, you will need an average entry score of 5.0 from your best 6 GCSE subjects, ideally including English and Maths. You will also be required to show a portfolio of work when you apply. This could include drawings, digital work or creative projects that demonstrate your interest in games, animation or visual storytelling. In instances where little or no portfolio and/or performance experience is shown, we will guide you towards the best course to help you build your portfolio and develop the skills and knowledge you need to succeed at higher levels. This study programme is designed to help you move quickly toward advanced jobs, higher education, or apprenticeship opportunities if you know what you want to do next and meet the entry requirements needed for success.

This course prepares you for a range of next steps including:

• University pathways in Filmmaking, Digital Film, Media Production, Cinematography, Broadcast, Editing or VFX
• Industry and freelance roles such as Camera Trainee, Editor, Production Assistant, Lighting Assistant, Content Creator or Videographer
