Course Summary
Basketball is the second most popular team sport for 17–23-year-olds in the UK. Maidstone Warriors is one of the largest clubs in the Southeast, with roots in community basketball and recent expansion into competitive National League basketball for various age groups. We are excited to form this partnership with Maplesden Noakes and offer a high-class coaching experience for both boys and girls, including participation in local and national competitions.
As the first established basketball academy in Maidstone, we aim to provide not only competitive opportunities but also activities that support Maplesden Noakes' core values and enhance the offer of this well-renowned Sixth Form. Having been established for almost 30 years, the link with Maidstone Warriors will offer opportunities for those interested to train and play with the club at weekends, to develop their skills, and to access heavily subsidised or free places on coaching and referee courses, as well as volunteering opportunities that are highly valued in Higher Education applications.
As a participant, alongside the obvious enjoyment of competing against other local basketball academies, you will also be able to integrate aspects of your studies. For example, you can apply the Analysis of Performance in P.E., as everyone will have access to player performance data from a high-level player performance analysis system. Links can also be made to aspects of sport psychology, biomechanics, and even nutrition. We are happy to support those who choose a basketball theme as part of an EPQ study.
Each player or participant will have access to high-level, academy-experienced Basketball England coaching staff. Training sessions will focus on player development and game preparation.
Your Next Steps
Our priority is to support your academic progress, and we will work closely with academic staff to complement your overall experience and eventual outcomes. The club has numerous contacts within basketball programmes, both in professional clubs and European club scholarships, as well as within the UK Higher Education system. If attending a UK university is your intended destination, we can collaborate with your tutors to support your basketball development at university alongside your academic choices.
Maidstone Warriors will work with each scholar to set realistic goals from the start of their journey. You will receive regular feedback and be linked to opportunities that arise within the basketball community.
