Course Summary

Students should have a genuine passion for music, creativity, and commitment to developing their skills. Organisation and time management are key, as you will often be working on multiple projects at once. You should be open to performing, producing, or composing as part of a team and taking responsibility for your own learning.

Course Details

The RSL Level 3 Music Practitioners qualification is a professional, hands-on course for musicians, producers, and creatives who are ready to take their skills to the next level. It combines practical learning with creative, industry-based projects and is equivalent in size and challenge to A Levels, recognised by UCAS (up to 84 points). Designed by industry professionals and officially recognised by Ofqual, the course offers four specialist pathways: Performance, Composition, Technology, and Business.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Assessment is through performances, projects, and coursework - there are no formal exams. Students complete tasks that reflect real-world music industry scenarios such as live performances, recording projects, and promotional campaigns. Assessment outcomes are graded Pass, Merit, Distinction, or Distinction*.

Entry requirements

Grade 4 in Music or audition if new to the subject.
