Course Details
UAL Level 2 Diploma in Performing and Production Arts (Musical Theatre) is a full-time unique one-year training programme that introduces students to musical theatre training and performance following the Miskin Theatre's unique industry training model. It is ideal if you are new to musical theatre and dance training.
The programme will encourage you to gain a broad variety of skills developing your singing, acting, dance technique, and performance skills, culminating in performances at the in-house Miskin Theatre and beyond. You will participate in singing, acting, ballet, contemporary, commercial, jazz, tap, and musical theatre classes to support your ability to perform in a range of musical theatre productions. You will also learn about the different employment opportunities in the performing arts industry.
Our Study Programme includes opportunities for you to develop your English and Maths skills as required. You may be expected to complete either functional skills or GCSE qualifications as part of your course depending on your GCSE results.
As part of this programme you may be able to complete ISTD Classical Ballet, Modern Theatre Dance, and Tap examinations (additional costs apply).

Entry requirements
Entry is by audition and interview. Applicants need to demonstrate a genuine interest and experience in musical theatre & have an understanding of their singing, acting and dance skills. Minimum of four GCSEs at grade 3 or above including English and preferably maths and one creative subject. Or an equivalent Level 1 Diploma in Performing Arts at merit or above.
You will need a positive school report/recommendation/reference from your school/tutor. (Applicants who are home schooled, with no formal qualifications, will be required to take college internal assessments; in addition to the below, to determine their suitability for the demands of the course).
You will be required to attend an audition and an interview where you will take part in both a practical dance and acting workshops on the day. You will also be asked to perform a solo dance piece and song, in a style of your choice. These pieces should be 1-2 minutes in length. The outcome of your audition/interview will be assessed by the panel, and they will let you know if you have been successful.
