Course Summary
16-18s Study Programme
Duration: 11 Months
Our training equips young people who are not quite ready for work, an apprenticeship or academic study with the skills they need to move forward in their careers and lives.
Learners are able to gain valuable qualifications and are supported to access work experience opportunities. We coach learners to be their best selves when being interviewed and help them secure employment with respected companies in the sector of their choice.
It’s not like school, delivery takes place in relatively informal, uncrowded environments with small groups and 1-2-1 support available.
Training is funded by the Department for Education and qualifications are at level 2 (equivalent to GCSEs).

Employability
Available in Dartford, Gravesend, Maidstone, and Medway. This pathway supports young people going into jobs and apprenticeships who are still considering which employment sector is best suited for them.
The main focus is a NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Employability Skills, offering units on job searching, interview skills, using social media in the workplace, and much more. We include over 100 hours of work experience, alongside a variety of sector-specific career talks and apprenticeship opportunities throughout.
Young people on this pathway develop essential workplace skills while benefiting from JGA’s strong local employer partnerships. Recently, these have included Fastrack Bus Network, Thames Water, Royal Literary Fund and public sector organisations such as the NHS, police, the fire service and the armed forces. These connections give insight into real careers and workplaces and are valuable encounters to boost employability.
