Course Summary

The NCFE Level 2 Diploma in Sport (Sports Coaching) is intended for learners aged 16 and over and provides the introductory skills to either start a career in sport or develop knowledge and skills that can be transferred to other industries. This qualification can also prepare learners for apprenticeships or further study.

The NCFE Level 2 Diploma in Sport (Sports Coaching) is designed as a 1-year, full time course and will provide foundations to progress onto the NCFE L3 Diploma in Sport and Physical Activity.

Course Details

The NCFE Level 2 Diploma in Sport (Sports Coaching) will allow learners to gain introductory skills and knowledge to start a career in sport, prepare for higher or further education through full-time or part-time study, and provide the opportunity to acquire a number of practical and technical skills.

The NCFE Level 2 Diploma in Sport (Sports Coaching) requires learners to successfully complete 3 mandatory units and 4 additional units:

(M) Participating in sport

(M) Sports coaching

(M) Developing sporting skills and tactical awareness

Performance analysis for sport

Introduction to healthy exercise and nutrition

Factors affecting participation in sport and physical activity

Plan, deliver and evaluate an activity session

How will it be delivered and assessed?

The NCFE Level 2 Diploma in Sport (Sports Coaching) will allow learners to gain introductory skills and knowledge to start a career in sport, prepare for higher or further education through full-time or part-time study, and provide the opportunity to acquire a number of practical and technical skills.

The NCFE Level 2 Diploma in Sport (Sports Coaching) requires learners to successfully complete 3 mandatory units and 4 additional units:

Entry requirements

Four GCSEs at grade 3 or above, where possible, one being in English or Maths (although this will not prevent entry to the programme where learners demonstrate appropriate behaviours and attitudes towards their ongoing English and Maths development)

Or

a relevant Level 1 qualification, plus an ability to operate at Level 1 in either English or Maths.

EMPLOYMENT

Upon successful completion of your study programme, you will receive information, support and guidance on a variety of aspects to support you in securing meaningful employment. This will form the basis of your tutorial sessions, in addition to the academic monitoring and target setting.

SPORT

Studying with SCL provides you with an opportunity to play professional or non-professional sport, as well as a pathway to progress to a USA Scholarship. An American Scholarship will allow you to continue your studies whilst training and competing at a high level.

FURTHER EDUCATION (INCLUDING APPRENTICESHIPS)

Upon successful completion of your programme, you will be eligible to progress onto a Level 3 qualification such as the NCFE Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sports and Physical Activity. Should you decide to combine further study with employment, you will be eligible for an apprenticeship.
