Outdoor Adventurous Activities (Sport) First Diploma Level 2

This course is the first step to becoming an outdoor instructor or working in the outdoor adventure industry. You will improve your knowledge of the industry and begin to enhance your skills in becoming an outdoor practitioner. Throughout the course, you will gain an understanding of how the body systems work and respond to exercise. You will also design and undertake a training programme to improve your fitness. The course will involve you developing skills in a range of land and water-based outdoor and adventurous activities, such as climbing, mountain biking, windsurfing, and sailing.

This course is designed to build confidence and develop knowledge and skill in a variety of outdoor and adventurous sports. You will study various outdoor sports-related topics, such as:

• Fitness Testing and Training
• Anatomy and Physiology for Sport
• Skills for Land and Water-based Outdoor and Adventurous Activities
• Outdoor Expeditions

Each unit of work will be assessed by assignments, presentations, and practical assessments with two units being externally assessed exams. A programme of set assignments will be issued at the start of the course, so students can plan their workload accordingly. Assignments are theoretical and practical in nature and the grades awarded for each will go towards the student's final grade.

The First Diploma is an ideal stepping stone for progressing to the Extended Diploma course, or to gaining employment, or an apprenticeship within the industry.
