Course Summary
The course gives you an opportunity to develop personal skills and attributes that are essential for life and employment. It allows personal growth through a range of units designed to prepare you for progression onto further education and future employment.
Course Details
You will study a range of units designed to build your skills. These may include:
- Sustainability
- Digital skills
- Managing money
- Teamwork skills
- Healthy eating for families
- Individual rights and responsibilities
- Preparation for work
- Healthy living
- Working towards goals
- Preparing for next steps
How will it be delivered and assessed?
You will build a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate your knowledge and skills. The units are assessed through a variety of activities and evidenced through written tasks, posters, photographic evidence of events, practicals and group tasks. The evidence can be linked to your own personal interests and learning style.
Opportunity for work experience:
We encourage students to attend a week of work experience during the year. A DBS is required for some placements.
Entry requirements
This course is for students who have achieved grades 1/2 at GCSE. Students without any GCSE's will also be considered for this programme.

You can continue with your studies onto another level, for example Level 2, or you may wish to study a further Level 1 course depending on your personal requirements.
