Entry Requirements: Minimum entry requirements are 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above, which MUST include English Language and Mathematics, plus any additional individual subject requirements.

Course Summary
Psychology is the study of the brain and human behaviour and is directly relevant to everyday life. If focuses on why people behave as they do. For example, what makes people obey, what happens inside our brain and how much of our behaviour is caused by either nature or nurture?
Course Details
Students will follow the following units:
• Unit 1: Introductory Topics in Psychology (Social influence, Memory, Attachment and Psychopathology).
• Unit 2: Psychology in Context (Approaches in Psychology, Biopsychology and Research Methods).
• Unit 3: Issues and Options in Psychology (Issues and debates in Psychology, Gender, Schizophrenia and Aggression).
How will it be delivered and assessed?
All exams are taken at the end of Year 13 and have equal weighting. The A Level is assessed by exam only.
Entry requirements
General entry requirements: Grade 4 in English Language and Maths together with 3 other GCSE grades at grade 4 or above is the minimum requirement to enter Hillview Sixth Form.
SUBJECT SPECIFIC ENTRANCE CRITERIA:
Grade 5 or above in GCSE English Language. Grade 6 or above in GCSE Maths. Any combination of 2 GCSE Sciences at a Grade 6. An APS of 4.75 or above.
Your next steps...
Psychology provides a useful foundation for any job, as you will nearly always be working with people, whatever career path you follow. However, it is particularly valuable as preparation for a career in Teaching, Journalism, Social Work, Law and Medicine.
In order to work as a Chartered Psychologist, you will need to gain a degree in Psychology and then undertake further work and study a PhD level.
